Building a Digital Presence for a Professional Outdoor Shakespeare Company
Shakespeare on the Sound
Media Manager • 2024–2025 Seasons
Overview: My work with Shakespeare on the Sound began during the 2024 production of Romeo & Juliet, where I served as Media Manager while collaborating closely with the Executive Director to expand the organization's digital storytelling. We saw an opportunity to strengthen our online presence, so we developed and expanded the role to focus on promotional content, live event coverage, and audience engagement.
I returned for the 2025 production of Macbeth, continuing to lead social media and digital content creation. Across both seasons, I produced promotional campaigns, behind-the-scenes content, and performance recaps that helped extend the experience beyond the stage while building awareness

Shakespeare on the Sound has long been a beloved summer tradition for Fairfield County, bringing audiences together each year for professional outdoor Shakespeare. With each production running for only one month, every piece of content needed to maximize a short promotional window—building anticipation before opening night, maintaining momentum throughout the run, and inspiring audiences to experience the production before the curtain closed.
Our focus was to:
Build awareness before opening night.
Sustain engagement throughout the production's limited run.
Showcase the artistry and atmosphere surrounding each performance.
Strengthen the organization's digital presence while celebrating its connection to the local community.
-
Rather than simply documenting performances, I focused on bringing audiences behind the curtain.
My work included:
Producing promotional campaigns leading up to opening night.
Capturing photography and short-form video throughout the season.
Creating behind-the-scenes and rehearsal content.
Publishing performance recaps and audience highlights.
Collaborating directly with the Executive Director to strengthen the organization's digital presence.
Monitoring performance analytics to refine future content.
Every post was designed to showcase not only the production itself, but the people, creativity, and community that brought it to life.
-
Across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, social media became a stronger extension of the live theatre experience.
Highlights included:
In 2025: 52K content views and 9.8K accounts reached (+98%)
Produced promotional and recap content across two productions.
Helped establish and expand the organization's media strategy.
Increased audience engagement through live storytelling.
Strengthened the organization's digital visibility during its summer seasons.
Contributed to measurable growth in reach, engagement, and website traffic.
-
As Media Manager, I led the organization's social media presence while working closely with the Executive Director to develop content that reflected the quality and energy of each production.
My responsibilities included:
Developing promotional and recap content
Photography and videography
Social media management
Live event coverage
Performance analytics
Brand storytelling
Cross-functional collaboration with the production team
Working across two consecutive seasons strengthened my ability to market live events, create compelling visual stories under tight timelines, and build a digital presence that complemented an in-person audience experience.
